Agriculture Value Chain Development Project Launches Oil Palm and Cocoa Multi-Stakeholder/ Commodity Value Chain Platform

The Agriculture Value Chain Development Project (AVDP) launched an innovative Oil Palm and Cocoa Multi-Stakeholder/ Commodity Value Chain Platform on August 9, 2023, at Albertson in Kenema. The platform was officially launched by AVDP Project Manager Madam Monica Kwame-Greene.

The platform serves as a dynamic hub that unites various key players in the oil palm and cocoa value chains, including producers, processors, agro-dealers, transporters, marketers, cooperatives, Apex Bank (RFIs & FSA), and government agencies that formed part of this value chain actors.

The goal of the platform is to enhance the efficiency, sustainability, and overall growth of the oil palm and cocoa sectors through collaborative efforts. By fostering connections and knowledge exchange, the platform aims to drive positive transformations throughout the agricultural value chain, benefitting the project’s beneficiary farmers and other actors.

The launch of the platform was well-attended by representatives from all stakeholder groups. In her speech, Monica highlighted the importance of the platform in promoting the growth of the oil palm and cocoa sectors in Sierra Leone. She also urged all stakeholders to participate actively in the platform, contribute and take ownership of its success.  The launch of the platform is a significant milestone for the AVDP and for the oil palm and cocoa sectors in Sierra Leone. The platform has the potential to make a real difference in the lives of farmers and other actors in the value chains.
